Eyes by Innes Mcdougall |
People disappoint me a lot… and I feel like I disappoint people too. It's easy for me to get discouraged. I suppose that's how I feel today, a little empty, but not devastated. I suppose this is a good day to look at pictures like these.

The Look by Innes Mcdougall |
I've noticed this really cool trend lately -- brilliant, runny watercolor or other drippy paint interposed with a highly expressive, detailed ink or pencil drawings. I personally love to draw but have little to no skill with paint, so I'm very drawn to this concept because it seems a little less intimidating than painting an entire canvas in acrylic. The way the colors drip and splatter looks really pretty and kind of sad, like rain on a beautiful day, or teardrops dissipating ink on a handwritten note. I'd like to buy some watercolors soon and try this technique out.
These first three are Innes Mcdougall illustrations. The faces have such a cool, glassy, transparent look.

These two prints by Abby Diamond feel wild and almost violent to me, even though the birds are so cheerful...

la Nostra Infinita Abnegazione by Agnes Cecile |
These four paintings by Italian artist Agnes Cecile are the most detailed and also my personal favorite. So beautiful, so much emotion.
